Running Drills!

You guys, THEY’RE WORKING!! Do you feel it? I feel a change, it’s hard to keep the technique but it’s working! This gives me hope for not only myself and running any real distance but also for those in my charge running great distances.

This brings a few things into focus: 1) Abi is going to the Endurace Cert in San Diego (wanna go with her?) 2) having her attend the Cert allows us to register as a CrossFit Endurance Affiliate (which is pretty cool) since we’ll have two bonafide CFE coaches, furthermore that opens up planning into events for next year, summer and fall to begin training for for those who have a wanting to go long.

Meredyth has expressed a want to do a trail 1/2 marathon, which sounds cool. There’s also some massive team relay thing like 150 miles or something which sounds like a great trip. If you’re into this, post back to comments and if possible suggest some races or events that we should plan for!

Also, WHITNEY’S HOME!! Look forward to seeing her around here soon!

I know the running drills are probably not the most popular thing ever introduced by Senor Jesse, but I’m starting to feel a difference in my running. Especially the “pull” and leaning – those are still rough but getting more ingrained.

I found a site that has pretty much all the long-distance runs and you can just search for specific regions or distances:

I personally like the drills we’ve been doing. It’s great to lean techniques properly so to minimize injuries.

It’s totally working. I have started to see my technique shift more every time I run. I am definitely on board for some events next year. I know one that Meredyth and I have talked about before is the Mt.Si Relay -5 runners and about 60 miles. Usually in April. Also Mel and I talked about RAMROD – Ride Around Mt.Rainier in One Day- bike course with 10,000 feet of climbing over 154 miles. Could be awesome!! I am sure I’ll have many more ideas. So excited to hear about the CFE cert.

    CC, sounds awesome!

The drills are really helping me, and my running is so improved (he said sarcastically, with a tiny hint of bitterness). Actually, I am so ready to finish my rehab, or whatever they call it, and really get moving in a new way.

    And Hooray for Whitney!!!!!

  8. Meredyth Says:

So it is not quite 150 miles it is 56 here is the link there can be a team of five each person where each person runs two legs or a team of what ever amount for a recreational team. Great fun – great team thing driving from pass of point to pass off point lots of other teams – it is in April plenty of time to train!

One more thing Ramrod awesome event also!! have done it twice and it is grueling but you feel great at the end of the day having rode 156 miles and 10,000 feet of elevation of gain. I am up for any bike training!!

How about Ragnar Relay next July? 6 or 12 people run 189 miles (Canada to the bottom of Whidbey Island) in 24 hours? I’m all over it!! If you are interested, let me know!
Also if you are interested in races involving running AND orienteering (map, compass) there are a lot of races of that type to do as well!
